Scrivix User Guide

Save a clean image of the canvas or Mac display area to Photos. Scrivix removes its toolbar from the captured image.

Temporarily hide every annotation without deleting anything. Tap again to bring the ink back exactly where it was.

Choose a preset or custom color. Brush and Highlighter each remember their own saved colors. Tap the custom color control for Apple’s color picker, or press and hold it to choose Rainbow or Astro ink.

Tap to toggle the current background. Press and hold, then slide or tap to choose white, black, graph paper, lined paper, or a photo. Grid spacing and line width controls appear only when they apply, and your choices are remembered.

Write and draw with pressure-sensitive Apple Pencil ink. Scrivix remembers the Brush size when you switch to another tool and back.

Add translucent emphasis that stays underneath normal ink so writing remains clear. The Highlighter has its own remembered size and color presets.

Press and hold to choose a single-ended arrow, double-ended arrow, straight line, rectangle, or circle. Slide to an option and lift, or tap the option. While drawing a rectangle or circle, use a second finger to lock a perfect square or circle.

Fill Smart Shapes, Shape Tool objects, and many closed hand-drawn shapes. Rainbow produces a smooth diagonal gradient; Astro adds a space-inspired gradient and stars.

Draw temporary marks that fade away automatically without affecting permanent annotations.

Tap a stroke or drag around several strokes, then move, freely reshape, or delete the selection without changing its line thickness. Shape Tool lines and recognized straight lines show endpoint handles for extending, shortening, or rotating the line. You can also tap a scalable image to move, resize, or delete it; use the separate image editor when you need to change layer order. Corner resizing keeps the top-left corner anchored. Selection is available on the iPad canvas and during Mac-connected annotation sessions.

Remove an entire stroke or shape by touching the ink. Scrivix uses the object’s actual path so nearby annotations are less likely to be erased accidentally.

Remove the current page’s annotations while preserving its selected background or overlay. Undo can restore an accidental clear.

Control your Mac from iPad: tap to click, double tap to double-click, press and hold for right-click, drag windows and items, hover Apple Pencil to move the cursor, scroll with two fingers, and pinch or expand to zoom supported apps.

Prevent fingers and your palm from creating ink while keeping supported finger gestures available for navigation and editing.

Step backward or forward through drawing, editing, erasing, and clear actions. You can also use the multi-touch shortcuts below.

Choose Small, Medium, or Large and fine-tune the active tool with the slider. Tools that do not use a size control disable these options.

Press and hold the custom color control and choose Rainbow. Colors transition smoothly along your writing and continue from the previous stroke rather than restarting at red every time.

Choose Astro from the same press-and-hold menu for deep purples and blacks with varied star highlights. Its pattern continues naturally across strokes.

Draw a rough line, circle, rectangle, triangle, or arrow, then briefly hold Apple Pencil still. Scrivix replaces it with a cleaner shape while preserving the active standard, Rainbow, or Astro style.

The Fill Tool can color many closed freehand shapes even when you do not convert them into Smart Shapes.

Undo the last action without reaching for the toolbar.

Redo the last undone action.

Scroll Mac documents, webpages, and presentations. Scrolling remains available while a drawing tool is selected.

In an iPad presentation, swipe horizontally to move between pages. Swipe forward from the final page to add a clean new page.

In Control Mode, pinch to zoom out or expand to zoom in. Scrivix sends the appropriate zoom shortcut to the active Mac app instead of enlarging the video feed.

Preview toolbar controls and menus before touching the screen. In Control Mode, hover also positions the Mac pointer.

Open the quick color menu with your saved colors near the current Pencil location. The menu moves to remain clear of the toolbar.

Quickly switch between the Brush and Object Eraser.

See the current page and total number of pages. Tap the counter to open the Page Organizer.

Add a new page after the current page, including between existing pages. New pages begin with the current background for a natural lesson flow.

Review page thumbnails, jump to a page, duplicate or delete pages, and drag pages into a new order.

Each page remembers its own ink, background or overlay, and inserted images.

Start a blank presentation without leaving the canvas. Scrivix offers to save changes before replacing the current project.

Add one or more images from Photos without replacing the full canvas background.

Choose Adjust Images, then tap the image you want. Drag directly on that image to move it and use its resize controls with a finger or Apple Pencil. Tap away to clear the selection.

Use the thumbnail strip to select and reorder overlapping images. Bring an image forward, send it backward, or drag thumbnails into the exact layer order you need.

Tap the clearly marked Done button beside the image control to return to writing and drawing.

Save editable .scrivix projects to Files, On My iPad, or iCloud Drive. A project keeps its pages, ink, overlays, and images so you can continue later.

Open a saved Scrivix presentation and keep editing, erasing, rearranging, or adding pages.

Update the current project or save a separate copy under a new name. The current file name appears at the top of the canvas.

Use the clearly labeled PDF export action from the Page Organizer or save menu to create a shareable PDF containing all presentation pages.

Open the free Scrivix Mac companion, choose the Mac on your iPad, and enter the displayed passcode. Both devices must be on the same local network.

When the Mac has multiple displays, choose the display you want to view and annotate. Scrivix keeps the overlay and video feed aligned with that display.

Use the Selection tool on annotations created during the connected session. Move, resize, or delete strokes and Scrivix updates the corresponding Mac overlay.

Screen Recording lets Scrivix send the Mac display to iPad. Accessibility lets Control Mode click, scroll, and move the pointer. If a permission appears enabled but does not work, remove Scrivix from that macOS permission list, add it again, and reopen the app.

Screen video, drawing commands, and controls travel over your local network. Scrivix does not send presentation content to a Scrivix cloud account.

When you use the iPad canvas with AirPlay or a connected external display, Scrivix presents the writing surface without the editing toolbar so the audience sees only your content.

If the connection screen is open, the external display shows Scrivix branding rather than exposing your list of available Macs or connection details.
