Scrivix Tool Guide

A quick reference for Scrivix tools, gestures, overlays, and Mac pairing.

iPad Toolbar Options

Icon Tool & Description
๐Ÿ“ธ Screenshot Snapshot

Saves a clean screenshot of the current canvas or presentation area to your iPad Photos library. Toolbar controls are not included in the saved image.

๐ŸŽจ Color Palette

Quickly switch between preset colors or choose a custom color. Long-press a preset color to save your current color for future sessions.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Overlay & Whiteboard Menu

Tap the display icon to toggle the current overlay. Press and hold to choose whiteboard options including white, black, graph paper, lined paper, or a photo from your iPad.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ Brush Tool

Draw smooth, pressure-sensitive ink with Apple Pencil. Brush size is remembered when switching between Brush and Highlighter.

๐Ÿ–๏ธ Highlighter

Adds translucent markup for emphasizing text, slides, diagrams, or documents without fully covering what is underneath.

๐Ÿ’ง Fill Tool

Fill Smart Shapes or messy closed hand-drawn shapes with your selected color. Great for quick diagrams, emphasis boxes, and visual callouts.

๐Ÿช„ Laser Pointer

Draw temporary laser marks that fade away automatically, perfect for pointing something out without leaving permanent ink behind.

๐Ÿงฝ Pixel Eraser

Erase part of a stroke by drawing over it, while leaving the rest of your annotation intact.

๐Ÿงผ Stroke Eraser

Remove an entire stroke by swiping over it with your Apple Pencil or finger.

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Clear Screen

Clears your current annotations while keeping the active overlay or whiteboard background in place.

๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธ Control Mode

Control your Mac from your iPad. Use Apple Pencil hover to move the Mac cursor, tap to click, double tap to double-click, tap and hold for right-click, tap-hold-drag to move windows or items, and two fingers to scroll.

โœ๏ธ Apple Pencil Only

Limit drawing input to Apple Pencil to help prevent accidental marks from your hand or finger while writing.

โ†ฉ๏ธ Undo

Step backward through recent annotation actions.

โ†ช๏ธ Redo

Restore a stroke or action that was removed with Undo.

๐ŸŽš๏ธ Brush Size Slider

Adjust the active tool size. Size options are disabled for tools that do not need them, such as Fill and Control Mode.

โŒ Disconnect

Ends the session with your Mac and returns to the pairing screen.

Multi-Touch Gestures

โœŒ๏ธ Two-Finger Tap

Tap anywhere on the iPad screen with two fingers to instantly undo your last stroke without using the toolbar.

๐ŸคŸ Three-Finger Tap

Tap anywhere on the iPad screen with three fingers to redo your last undone action.

โ†•๏ธ Two-Finger Scroll

Scroll documents, webpages, slides, and other Mac content naturally. Two-finger scrolling also works while using drawing tools.

Smart Drawing

Feature Action & Description
โ–ญ Smart Shapes

Draw rough rectangles, triangles, arrows, lines, or circles, then briefly hold your Apple Pencil down to snap the drawing into a cleaner shape.

โฌ› Messy Shape Fill

The Fill Tool can also fill many closed hand-drawn shapes, even if they are not converted into Smart Shapes.

Connection Feedback

Status Meaning
๐ŸŸข Connected

Your iPad is connected to the Mac companion app and the live video stream is active.

๐ŸŸ  Reconnecting

Scrivix is trying to restore the Mac connection or video feed. Keep both devices on the same local network.

๐Ÿ” Pairing Passcode

The Mac app displays a secure 4-digit code. Enter this code on your iPad to start a local Scrivix session.

โœ… Permission Checklist

The Mac app shows whether Screen Recording and Computer Control permissions are enabled, with quick access to macOS Settings.

๐Ÿ“ก Local Connection

Scrivix connects over your local network. Your drawings, screen stream, and controls are not sent to cloud servers.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Mac Overlay

After pairing, Scrivix becomes a transparent full-screen overlay so you can annotate over presentations, documents, browsers, videos, and other Mac apps.
